PolitiCube

About Us

This site was mostly made in two weeks (though I'll probably be making adjustments to it for years) by one person who has little interest in politics ("No, I do not want to be registered to vote.") and limited experience in web design. That said I am fairly competent and I'd argue that having less interest in politics allows for much less bias on the topic, plus coding a website isn't rocket science. Why did I do this? Mostly because the existing political tests came across as really lacking in various ways. The main one, "The Political Compass" comes across as well... a shameless cash-grab, deliberate or unintentional propaganda, and absurdly idiotic for something that has been actively maintained for two decades. You can read our criticisms of them here.

Back to actually telling you more about us.

We refuse any attempt at monetary input from anything or anyone relative to this site. This is simply an interesting project that was undertaken by its creator, we do not want compensation. If you feel the need to donate, go do it elsewhere, like some education charity or something.

All the site mechanics are generated solely by your computer on-the-fly, with no server-side processing (at least that we can control) except I suppose for anything submitted through the form on the feedback page. All the relevant files used are inspectable by you, so you can rest easy knowing that we aren't collecting your data and you can scrutinize any part of this site to your heart's content.

There are over 8 million discrete potential positions on our political cube (2013) since we round to the nearest percent between -100% and 100%. While this may seem very precise, it does still suffer from ambiguity from the subjectivity in how people respond and from a limited number of responses which makes changes in each response capable of significant changes in results. Thus results have an appreciable margin of error.
